Akira Shimazu (シマヅ・アキラ, Shimazu Akira) is a fictional character portrayed by Rina Sawayama for the neo-noir media franchise John Wick. She appeared for the first time in John Wick: Chapter 4, the four installment of the franchise which premiered on 6 March 2023.

Shimazu’s daughter, Akira, works for her father, as concierge at the Osaka Continental. Theirs is a loving but complicated relationship. She’s a part of his world but cannot embrace it. But upon John Wick’s arrival at the Osaka Continental, she learns there is no escape from it.

Casting[]
In June 2021, it was revealed that Rina Sawayama would join the cast for John Wick: Chapter 4, along with Donnie Yen, Shamier Anderson, Bill Skarsgård and Hiroyuki Sanada.[2][3][4] Her character was also revealed to be Shimazu Akira, daughter of Shimazu Koji and concierge of the Continental in Osaka.
On casting Sawayama, director Chad Stahelski said he was "so glad to have [her] on board to make her feature film debut" in John Wick: Chapter 4. "She's an incredible talent who'll bring so much to the film."[5]
