"Who?" is a song recorded by Rina Sawayama, and released on 15 April 2013 as the B-side her debut single "Sleeping in Waking",[1] which was physically released as a 7" vinyl on 22 April 2013 through Make Mine.[2] The song was written by Sawayama, and produced by Hoost.

Composition and production[]

Musically, the song is set in the key of A Minor with a tempo of 169 beats per minute.[3]

Compared to "Sleeping in Waking", Sawayama said she wanted to capture the bittersweetness of it all, "so I stripped it back, production wise." She added, "I wanted it to be dreamy and a little bit tongue-in-cheek. It's not as sexy-sounding or as complex as ["Sleeping in Waking"], so I think it was a perfect B-side in that sense."[4]

It's about this time at a pizza restaurant where I had to sit opposite the guy I really liked flirt with his new girlfriend. We’d had some history but I hadn’t been straight with how I felt, so I played it cool even though I was dying inside. To be fair I had a boyfriend at the time so it all was a bit messed up. The song goes dreamy => bittersweet => pissed off in 2 minutes. It’s a lullaby for the crazy bitch.[4]

The song was mixed on 4 March 2013.[5]

Lyrics[]

You stay there, you can't
You do 'cause you know you're beautiful
Slicing one arm, girl in the other
Oh, I wish I were your lover (Oh)

Paysage I dream in
Alcohol stealing
Terrible conversation
Wanna make you laugh
Paysage I dream in
Alcohol stealing
Terrible conversation
Wanna make you laugh

You said that you'd give me a sign
When I needed a warning
You said that you had a lover
And you needed a friend
Said you could have no other
But for me you might change your mind

Well, who do you?
Who?
Well, who do you?
Do you think you are?
